Mechanism before machinery
Understand the elementary steps first. A clear picture of the surface chemistry is what makes a model worth trusting.
folio 02 / About
I am a chemical engineer who studies how reactions actually happen at catalytic surfaces - and how that understanding can be turned toward more efficient and sustainable chemical processes.
My path in chemical engineering began at NIT Srinagar, where I completed my B.Tech and graduated as a gold medallist. It led me to IIT Delhi for a Ph.D., where I learned to read catalysis from the surface upward: tracing how individual elementary steps connect into reaction networks, and how that detail explains activity, selectivity, and the ways a catalyst loses its edge over time.
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at NIT Srinagar, where I have taught since 2016. My work brings together microkinetic modelling, computational catalysis, and reaction engineering - using molecular insight and first-principles analysis to design pathways toward biorenewable chemicals and lower-carbon processes.
Alongside research, I care about teaching modelling as a way of thinking clearly: a tool for asking sharper questions rather than only producing answers. Much of what I value - attention, patience, a sense of responsibility for the work - sits behind the science as much as within it.

A model is a way to ask a sharper question - to test an assumption and see where it bends - not a black box that hands back answers.
Selectivity, efficiency, and carbon all matter. The aim is chemistry that serves a more sustainable future, not only a faster reaction.
